Q. How many kids does it take to plant 2 trees? A. 57 third graders + 17 LWGC members + 6 Stillson School Staff 80 Arbor Day enthusiasts, our largest tree planting crowd ever, celebrated on Fri. April 29th at Stillson School by planting 2 Prairie Fire crab trees. Stillson School’s goal is to plant 100 trees at their new school site. The rain held off, the kids had a great time, LWGC members read poems about trees and Arbor Day Chairman Lois K and her committee members Sharon B, Sandy K and Shirley M organized a great program for everyone.
Arbor Day 2020
Two maple trees were planted near the Lafayette Township ball fields.
The Importance of Arbor Day as noted by members in their words...
A TREE IS JUST A TREE
A tree is just a tree
But maybe not.
We plant a tree
With a look to the future.
Even after we are gone
A tree can say:
"Look, I'm alive! I'm growing!
I'm here
Because you cared."
And so
Thanks today to the Lake Wissota Garden Club
For caring and planting two trees today,

ARBOR DAY
Arbor Day’s designed to bring attention to our trees.
Trees give us cleaner air to breathe and shelter from a breeze.
Who can forget that maple’s sap boils down to Spring’s elixir?
While maple’s coloring Fall leaves paint such a glorious picture.
We celebrate the fruiting trees whose blooms beguile our eyes.
Their bountiful harvests satisfy when baked inside sweet pies.
Trees outstretched arms are sawed and planed and sanded ‘til they’re smooth.
Such basic needs as floors and walls are built from tongue and groove.
So whether used to feed or house or provide our winter fuel,
On Arbor Day please join in this vital resource’s renewal.

Trees Take Time by Patience Strong
Trees take time to grow,
They can`t be hurried.
Slow but sure, they gain a little day by day
and patiently endure the fury of the winter storms.
As centuries pass by,
roots go deeper as the boughs reach up into the sky.
There it stands, the massive oak,
a giant in height and girth, but
it was an acorn once, a small seed in the earth,
And still it grows
year in year out,
the mighty branches climb,
up and up towards the light........but slowly.
Trees take time.
Today is National Arbor Day!!! Hug a tree!!
